The Mirror

Moisander Juhana

The Mirror is a video projection of a woman looking at her own reflection while brushing her hair. Soon after, we witness Death walking into the scene from the corner of the frame, he stands behind her, leans over and touches her hair. Death goes unnoticed, as the woman just continues looking into the mirror and brushing her hair.

Juhana Moisander is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. He received his BA degree from Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2004 and MA degree from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 2007. Moisander makes installations and photographic series where history, memory and fantasy meet. His work has been widely exhibited domestically and internationally in e.g. the Finnish Museum of Photography (2014), Gallery Toolbox in Berlin (2013), Gallery Sculptor in Helsinki (2012) and Gallery KNIPSU in Bergen (2012).
